Barton Court is a stunning detached Georgian house set in its own beautiful grounds bounded by thick yew hedges and stone walls. Built originally in the 15th century, it was extended and refurbished by Henry Lambert as a present for his bride in 1780.
It is now – for the first time in 100 years – in new ownership and is available for all sorts of short term rentals from corporate events to hen parties. It is a beautiful and welcoming place to come together.
Awash with sensational period features, it has 10 bedrooms and can sleep up to 24 people in the main house with reception rooms that can host even larger numbers. There is a formal dining room, a library and a drawing room of grand proportions. The kitchen, moved upstairs from the lower ground floor in the 1950s to save the servants’ work, is now full of modern appliances.
Outside, sunny gardens surround the entire property and offer wonderful places to walk, sit and play games. There are two ponds and a fountain to enjoy and – from 2017 - the tennis court and croquet lawn [accessed by your very own bridge] will be brought back into service.
Conveniently situated on the edge of a charming village that has several pubs, eateries and a main line station, Colwall is only a few miles from the motorway network making it easy to get to from most parts of the country.
