Deeside House in beautiful Dentdale is a wonderful location for your hen party. This early C19th former hunting lodge is set in spectacular countryside beside the River Dee and is perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Dales National Park or for a day trip to the Lakes.
The property easily sleeps 31 in 7 ensuite bedrooms. The master bedroom has a magnificent four poster bed and Victorian bathroom – complete with roll top bath. The ‘Brown Room’ has a lovely carved double bed, and Edwardian furniture. There are 2 large family rooms, with a king sized double bed and 2 sets of bunk beds. Another two rooms have a double and three single bunks. For guests needing disability access, one of these bedrooms is on the ground floor, next to a shower room with easy access facilities.
Deeside has plenty of entertainment for all ages. Have a ‘girls night in’ in front of the log burner in the lounge. There is a 50" HD plasma screen and cinema sound system and plenty of DVDs to choose from. There is also a HiFi and satellite TV with the latest HD channels in the games room. The games room also has a darts board, table tennis, table football and a pool table and a great selection of board games and puzzles.
The kitchen is fully equipped to deal with large groups, with dishwasher, Rangemaster gas cooker, freezer, 2 fridges, pantry and utility room. There is also a large dining room.
Outside there is a seating area and a gas barbecue – perfect for a summer evening celebration.
Outdoor hens will be spoilt for choice. The scenery is magnificent and Dentdale is one of the best walking areas in the Yorkshire Dales. The Yorkshire Dales and Pennine Cycleways traverse the valley and horse riding, fishing and golf are all available nearby.
The charming market towns of Hawes and Kirkby Lonsdale with their independent shops and great places to eat are a short drive away. The ancient town of Sedburgh, one of the UK’s three ‘book towns’ is 10 miles away.
The local pub, The Sportsman’s Inn is less than a mile’s pleasant walk along the river. Dent, a picturesque village of cobbled streets has 2 pubs, cafes, an excellent Heritage Centre and even a Meditation Centre. The Centre offers a a range of meditation courses for everyone from absolute beginners to those who meditate regularly.
The famous Settle-Carlisle and Wensleydale railways run nearby and offer spectacular scenery. The magnificent Hardraw waterfall (conveniently set within the grounds of the Green Dragon Inn) and White Scar Caves, the longest show cave in the UK are within easy reach. The Lake District is just an hour away.
