The Tudor barn lends itself well to a civilised hen gathering, seeking somewhere very rural and different - not a nightclub in sight (but we do have a sound system!) but masses to do here and locally. The barn is set amidst our peaceful and environmentally friendly farm down a long drive with meadows, bantams scratching, space to roam, space to be together and apart. This ancient, beautiful barn is very definitely not a 'bunkhouse barn' but sleeping arrangements are whacky! Most hen gatherings want to all sleep together in the big barn in the four-posters and singles sleeping 16, but there are also three private bedrooms for those who want to escape the party - and three more in the adjacent farmhouse. The woodburner and sitting area is one end, the candle-lit oak banquet tables in the middle! The huge kitchen is well equipped and we usually unpack a supermarket delivery before you arrive, or organise good, wholesome local food to be simply delivered. There are two bathrooms and a smart new loo and shower block;and an upstairs sitting room. You can feast in Tudor costume; get a dance tutor in; gossip while you make a willow basket; borrow our 20+ bicycles and do a cryptic clue medieval village trail in teams; or play tennis or croquet. In the summer laze in the herb garden and barbecue; walk to beautiful historic Lavenham and back on footpaths; canoe down the River Stour from Sudbury to Wissington and get a minibus back; take a coastal river cruise; take a tour of the National Stud at Newmarket; or Go Ape in Thetford Forest.
