Tyas cottage is definitely NOT 'twee or kitsch'. White painted (apart from the kitchen) this combined barn and cottage conversion is light, airy and spacious. Furnished mainly with antiques and original oil paintings, it is not only stylish, but has Yorkshire character. The kitchen, with its large round antique mulberry wood table is often used a second living room. Also on the ground floor are a twin bedroom, bathroom and a hall, with its large oak refectory table. A spiral staircase from the hall brings you into the elegant drawing room (that is open to the rafters). The master bedroom boasts a magnificent carved mahogony 18th century 4 poster bed. In addition there is a twin bedroom on the first floor with its own bathroom. The first floor drawing room celebrates an enormous 'Queen' roof truss. Another feature of this room is the massive 2m x 1.2m yorkshire flag on which a wood burning stove has been placed. Quality is not confined to this 5 star graded building. This cottage also in a very special setting and has access to an award-winning shared garden.. The small valley, Merrydale, in which Tyas Cottage is located, has been designated as a Site of Scientific Interest. A short, steep and rough walk along an ancient packhorse route through woodland brings you to the 'Rose and Crown' pub, just over the brow of the hill. You'll need hiking boots. If pampering is on the agenda, if you can tear yourselves away from the shared garden with its swings and sculptural pods, Titanic Spa is very nearby. This is a particularly eco-friendly cottage with a solar panel, heat pump, hydro-electric power, wood burner, under-floor heating and massive insulation. There is a z-bed available so that it can comfortably accommodate 6 people if nobody wants to share the 4-poster. PRICE INFORMATION
